THE ROCK CHOIR LEADER ROLE

The Rock Choir Team is a talented and dynamic group that currently features 90 musicians and teachers who have trained with us to become Rock Choir Leaders and deliver the Rock Choir experience to their own community.

INTERESTED IN APPLYING? WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

A background and formal training in music, performance and/or education
– Musicians highly competent at piano and vocals
– A music degree/diploma and sight-reading skills (both useful but not essential)
– Charismatic individuals with excellent leadership skills
– The ability to inspire others while remaining patient and supportive
– Access to a car and a full GB driving license

Each of our Choir Leaders are able to combine the above to deliver the contemporary Rock Choir resources and teaching formula to each choir. All musical and teaching resources are developed by the in-house creative team and all music/performance licenses are confirmed before delivery.

Supported by our 30-strong HQ team, the role of Rock Choir Leader is to inspire and lead as well as teach and perform. It is a coveted position with many who have been with Rock Choir for over 10 years.

Based in your own community but working as part of the UK team, we are offering self-employment with a guaranteed minimum income along with a flexible working schedule that allows you to maintain other work and personal commitments.

Our members are amateurs but our Choir Leaders work to build their confidence and lead them on stage to enjoy life-changing and unique experiences!

It is essential that a new Choir Leader has a car and full GB driving license, and ideally a PA system and portable piano/keyboard.

The team are offered many exciting opportunities in their role with Rock Choir such as opening the BBC London Proms in the Park, recording at Abbey Road Studios, releasing commercial recordings and performing/taking part in large arena shows such as Wembley, the London O2 and the RAH as well as appearing on regional and national TV and radio.

Leaders get to witness, first-hand, the emotional impact that the Rock Choir Experience is having directly on its Members and their mental health whilst giving something back by connecting each individual and each Rock Choir community together whilst using music to change lives.

EXTRA EXPERIENCES

A Rock Choir Leader is also invited to become part of the ‘Rock Choir Vocal Group’ which currently features on Rock Choir’s commercial single releases and are invited to perform as a group at high-profile performances such as BBC Proms in the Park.

These exciting events help personal development but also assist in building the reputation of Rock Choir which in turn contributes to the dynamic and excellent reputation that Rock Choir has gained.

THE AUDITION PROCESS

Once a candidate has submitted their CV and any relevant information, a relaxed and informative interview and audition are offered based on the experience and suitability of each candidate. If successful, and both the candidate and the Rock Choir Team wish to move forwards, a schedule of supportive, dynamic and fun training is given to help build confidence and prepare each candidate for their role in front of the choirs.

SUPPORTING YOUR PERSONAL CAREER & DEVELOPMENT

Rock Choir Leaders are able to continue developing their personal careers and skills alongside the responsibilities of the role and as an example, many Leaders will gig, teach at school or privately at home, write music and perform themselves whilst contracted to Rock Choir.

Training and development is ongoing in Rock Choir where candidates will learn a variety of new skills and ideas from external experts and expertise within the team.  There are 3 ‘pre-term’ development events held each year where the whole team come together to study, learn and share experiences.

ROCK CHOIR LEADER LOCATIONS & SCHEDULE

The Rock Choir Leader is generally offered 3-4 rehearsal locations, geographically clustered, allowing a community of choirs to come together as well as rehearse separately. Rock Choir sessions typically run Monday-Thursday across a 10-week term which runs similarly to the school terms.

Each Leader belongs to a regional team with fun and exciting opportunities offered allowing the Leaders to come together for events and experiences as well as support and friendship.
