Role Overview
What is a Rock Choir Leader?
A Rock Choir Leader is the heart and soul of a local Rock Choir group — they’re the ones who lead rehearsals, bring the energy, and make the magic happen!
A Rock Choir Leader is a professional musician (a singer with piano/keyboard skills) who:
- Leads weekly choir rehearsals
- Teaches our unique Contemporary arrangements in an engaging, accessible way
- Brings fun, energy, and encouragement to every session
- Creates a safe and uplifting environment where anyone can enjoy singing - no matter what their background or experience in music is
- Conducts performances, local gigs, and larger events like arena shows or media appearances
Schedule:
- Choirs run Monday – Thursday
- 2 Friday meetings/term
- 3 Training courses/year
- Occasional performances outside of the usual teaching week
Equipment you'll need to start the job:
- Car and full drivers licence
- Keyboard
- PA System
- Head Mic
Skills & Experience
- Strong vocals and piano/keyboard ability (able to lead while accompanying)
- Confident public speaking and group leadership
- A passion for teaching music and helping people grow
- Ability to learn and teach Rock Choir’s contemporary arrangements
- Ability to travel locally for rehearsals and events

Application Process
Our application process is relaxed, supportive, and designed to help you shine. We want to get to know you, your musical skills, your personality and your ability to inspire others
1. Submit Your Application - Upload your CV, share a few details, along with a video demonstrating your vocal and piano skills (see guidelines below) and tell us why you'd make a great Rock Choir Leader!
2. Informal Interview - If your application is successful*, you will showcase your vocal and piano skills in a relaxed, friendly setting and get a feel for what the role is all about.
3. Training and Support - If successful, you’ll receive a conditional offer reliant on passing our training programme. This will give you all the resources you need before leading your first Rock Choir choir session.
4. Join the Rock Choir family - Step into your new role as an official Rock Choir Leader and begin inspiring our communities through music!
Video Guidelines:
- Choose any song you love, but we recommend something contemporary — Pop, Rock, or Musical Theatre work great!
- Your video should be at least 2 minutes long, with clear audio so we can hear your voice and piano playing clearly.
- Please do not include other instruments — we want to focus on your singing and piano ability only.
